Our clients require skilled communicators who bring a personal touch to their work and ensure that clients and customers enjoy exceptional service. The successful candidate will effectively answer queries, confidently address issues and perform detailed administration within the Rental Accounts function. Candidates must be organised, detail-oriented and ethical, with a customer-centric approach. While part of the lettings team, you must manage your daily, weekly and monthly tasks to ensure the department’s financial operations are fully covered.
Duties for an Accounts Clerk include:
- Manage and monitor all incoming rents and payments, including tenancy holding deposits and arrears
- Oversee and manage Landlord debit balances, ensuring timely collection of arrears
- Administer the Deposit Protection Scheme in compliance with current legislation
- Reconcile cash and cheque transactions received
- Liaise with tenants and landlords as needed to address inquiries and issues
- Prepare and manage rental arrears reports weekly
- Ensure prompt and accurate payments to suppliers and contractors through effective debit control
- Administer office petty cash, including receipt submission and expenditure recording
- Conduct daily reconciliations of Client Rent and Client Deposit Accounts
- Prepare and transfer Month-End and Year-End financial reports
- Assist Company Accountants and other professional advisers with audits, tax matters, etc
- Prepare quarterly reports for HMRC concerning overseas landlords and manage annual submissions
- Compile and provide meaningful reports, data and statistical information as required
- Participate in financial and quality audits as necessary
- Maintain accurate records and files in compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018
- Maintain proactive communication with the Lettings Manager and Director on all financial matters
- Assist with the Property Management System and liaise with the software company as necessary
Requirements of an Accounts Clerk:
- Previous experience in a similar role within an office environment
- Good accounting and administrative skills
- Strong organisational abilities
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Effective time management
- Ability to work well in a team
- Quick learner
- Self-motivated and proactive
Desirable qualities of an Accounts Clerk:
- AAT Accounting (Level 2) or Foundation Certificate in Accounting
