Our client in Bagley, Ellesmere is recruiting a shift plant operator.
This position is full-time, Monday to Friday and will work on a rotating 8-hour shift pattern between early and late (no nights). Early shift 6 am to 2 pm. Late shift 12 pm to 8 pm.
This is a very exciting opportunity to join a growing company and they are welcoming applications from individuals who have a technical background; preferably with experience in running and maintaining industrial compound fertiliser processes.
Key responsibilities for a plant operator will include:
- Maintain the proper condition of tools, test equipment and workshop equipment
- Installation, inspection, operation and maintenance of certified mechanical equipment including conveyors, bucket elevators, compressors, gearboxes, tanks, pressure vessels, pneumatic systems etc in non-hazardous areas. Where necessary, assessing and writing risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) for the task
- Participate in failure investigations and report back reliability issues within the plant
- Properly document and accurately report all maintenance, repairs, overhauls, adjustments and inspections; and ensure the integrity of work procedures including permits to work, work instructions, work orders
- Being a key part of all operational runs and driving process efficiency
- Tidiness and cleanliness of worksite conditions including minimising wastage in all areas of work
- Coach and mentor future Plant Technicians/Operators
- In conjunction with your supervisor, progress and complete training plans as identified by your annual appraisal and competency matrix
- The successful plant operator will work closely with the fertiliser manufacturer and site owners to ensure a strong working relationship is maintained
Skills, qualifications and experience required for a plant operator:
- Demonstrable competence in solids conveying, plant operations and bulk manufacturing
- Basic workshop skills
- Be able to read and work from drawings
- A full UK driver’s licence
- Demonstrable strong health and safety awareness
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Forklift and telehandler licence
- Experience with screw conveyors, bucket elevator mixers, and bulk bagging stations
- IOSH Working Safely
- Experience in anaerobic digestion, water/sewage treatment or waste management site
